Welcome to the
Home Page of Cranleigh Decorative & Fine Arts Society
We are a lively and welcoming group which aims
to promote the knowledge, appreciation and care of the decorative and fine arts
through lectures, study groups, guided tours, visits to private houses, museums,
exhibitions and other places of interest to members of the Society. In
addition, we are committed to promoting the arts to young people through
school-based project work.
As an affiliated
NADFAS
Society we enjoy all the benefits of a national arts group, which includes a
high quality quarterly journal, access to study days, foreign travel and contact
with experts and lecturers across the whole spectrum of the arts.
MEMBERSHIP Currently, we have vacancies
for new members at both our afternoon and evening meetings. The annual
membership fee is £40.00 with a one-off joining fee of £10. Guests
are welcome to attend lectures for a suggested donation of £5.00 per person
- we have found that guests often become full members soon after their visits!
There is a regular newsletter to keep members up-to-date with information.
We meet in the superb auditorium of the
Cranleigh Arts Centre with
its raked seating and state of the art sound and projection systems. Click on
Venue in the side panel for more information.
Lectures are held
regularly on the fourth Wednesday of each month except in August and December.
We have two identical meetings on the same day which gives members welcome
flexibility should they be unable to attend their usual session. Afternoon
meetings begin at 1.45pm and evening meetings at 8.00pm. In addition to our
monthly lecture meetings, we arrange day visits to
places of interest. These are generally by coach leaving from Stocklund Square.
These are very popular with our members and are booked on a first come first
served basis.
We hold a Christmas Party for
members in December with an entertaining seasonal talk.
